Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Plan

Over the last ten years, more than 2,400 bicyclists and pedestrians have been injured while traveling on roads in Polk County.  To address this problem, the Polk TPO has prepared Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Action Plans to identify specific actions that can be taken to reduce the number and severity of bicycle and pedestrian crashes.

The Polk TPO has partnered with Polk Vision to form a new Pedestrian Bicycle Safety Team to implement the safety action plan.  This team includes a variety of community partners who will help to implement engineering, education and law enforcement strategies to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety.

The Pedestrian Bicycle Safety Team meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 8:30 a.m. in Room 413 of the Polk County Administration Building.  These meetings are open to the public.
